Before injury/surgery, I spent several years taking part in endurance and ultra-distance running, particularly long-distance trail and coastal challenges.
Most of my running took place between 2012 and 2022, ranging from local club races through to ultra-distance trail events, 12 and 24-hour races, and supported Fastest Known Time (FKT) attempts.
I was a member of Isle of Wight Road Runners, now with West Wight Road Runners, and regularly competed in endurance trail events across the South of England, with a particular interest in long routes and self-navigation challenges.
Some of the more notable runs included:
- Isle of Wight Coast Path FKT — 70 miles in 12 hours 25 minutes (2018)
- Dorset Coast FKT / first known time attempt (2019)
- Multiple podium finishes in 12-hour trail races
- 100+ miles at the Monster Ambit 24-hour event
- Various long-distance route-based challenges
Several reports and articles from that period are preserved below. Some were originally published on now-defunct personal websites and have been lightly restored and republished to preserve the original write-ups and references.

Although most of my day-to-day focus is now on Apollo’s Lots GB Stamps, running and long-distance challenges formed a significant part of my life for a few years.
Following major spinal surgery in 2024, my running became more limited, although I have attempted to return to training and completed the Isle of Wight Marathon in 2025. I still hope to take on further races and ultra-distance challenges/events in future.
